Independent Opera Company is going to present The Snow Maiden, beautiful opera by 19th century Russian composer N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Action takes place in pagan prehistoric Russia.Snow Maiden is a beautiful young daughter of King Frost and Spring Beauty.She grew up in the forest, but is longing to get to know humans and to live among them. She is enchanted by beautiful songs by village shepherd boy, handsome Lel'. Snow Maiden (Snegurochka in Russian)appearance brings challenges to all villagers, and she herself is greatly challenged by emergence of human emotions. How will it all end? Set to beautiful, folk-inspired music this work is very popular in Russia, yet its not that well known in other parts of the world and to our knowledge has never been performed in Los Angeles! Don't miss this unique production with IOC all star cast! Performed in Russian with English supertitles and piano accompaniment.
