Gezelle Za Belle: Gezelle Za Belle was a natural born femme fatale. She was born, and then she danced. Studying the art of dance since the ripe young age of 5, ballet, tap and Fosse style jazz were(are) her..... forte'. She performed the classic can can first at the age of 9 and again at the age of 12 (if that isn't foreshadowing, I don't know what is!). She belonged to her company; The Dance Center performing/ competing troupe, in jazz and tap (lots of chorus line, and show girl Busby Berkly influence). The troupe took first in almost all of the state wide competitions, and performed often at local charities and events. But it was always the hip rolls, kicks and shoulder shrugs that brought an extra shine in her eyes.
Gezelle immediately put her talents to use, and headed straight to a friendly little gentleman's club. As slinky Gypsy (go figure) she danced at a few clubs across the nation, and even Vegas once. Her favorite was her local strict and classy strip club where she could dance to her own music, put on more tease/ burly-q type performances during the day shift and be left to explore the night, following romance and music. Often seen wearing black, standing in front of a violent crowd, close to the stage and lights, worshiping music.
Speaking of stage and lights, she has dabbled in theater stage and screen. Oddly enough, this femme fatale' has committed murder! In every one of the 3 independent local B movies she has been in (Gentle Fritz. IMDB). A trend that started oddly enough at a young age when she played a murderess in a church melodrama. "Gypsy" was put to rest as most young adults first careers are after 10 off and on years. But how and where was she going to express her desire to perform her mock blood lust and dance in skimpy outfits? Hmmm the Go-Go Gore Girls of course! A voice rang out from behind the counter at a costume shop..."do you want to be in my horror burlesque troupe?" Absolutely! Dancing and murdering on stage at the same time!! The B-horror was off the screen and into the hearts of many whom were lucky enough to catch the act. Here Gezelle Za Belle was unleashed, kinda a Jezebel/Beelzebub/belle' thing and a dash of gazelle animal totem on top! Gezelle met Ruby Bloodbath , fellow gore gal (soon to be our beloved Ruby Sparkle!) As the Go-Go Gore Girls reign came to an end, Ruby announced burlesque is the way, meet Lola Spitfire! Gezelle Za Belle put away her hatchets, boots and fake blood, for fans, strappy heels, and glitter and joined to be one of the original Peaks and Pasties members!
Velvet Noir: Velvet Noir has been a member of the Duluth Dolls burlesque troupe since it's inception in January 2012. She has actively studied the art of dance since 1974 including modern, jazz, ballet, middle eastern , Latin, African and burlesque. I love the creativity and joy that can be expressed through the movement of dance. I believe that burlesque is the ultimate expression of celebrating being a woman.
